This was already a hotel/motel, and it's located on a commercial strip.  Central Avenue is not residential.  People choose to live close to Central Ave because they want to be close to an urban/walkable area, including shops, cafes, and yes hotels. 

I'm disappointed that the Marriott owns it, as opposed to a local business, but it looks beautiful and should increase foot traffic.  

I also hate driving down Central so I take the one-ways.  This area of Central should prioritize pedestrians.  Drivers can use the one-way and park on Silver Ave when enjoying the shops, bars, cafes, theaters etc.  This also leaves more parking available for those with mobility issues who do need to park on Central.
