[Neighbors] Parking Issue/NHNA Board Meeting Tuesday September 1st

Thank you for bringing up food deserts. I 100% agree that getting rid of a supermarket goes directly against the district (and city-wide) goal of reducing food deserts and increasing walkability. This is bad for local businesses, bad for consumers, bad for the environment etc.

I think that we should speak to Nichole about this in addition to sharing the (proposed) NHNA statement with her. Although the co-op may seem niche, the new owner has ruled out ANY supermarket in that space. I’ve attached her “Community Conversations” schedule. If we can’t set up a specific meeting with her perhaps we can attend one of these?

>> Many of us, including business owners, are upset about the negative impact that this will have on all of us. Not only is it an added expense for shoppers, it also means that people will spend less time in Nob Hill, putting all of our small businesses at risk.

>> We already know that the owner (per the attached Albuquerque Journal story) will not allow La Montañita to renew their lease. He is considering allowing them to build a new structure on the property, but does not want the current space to continue as a super market.
>>
>> The Nob Hill Neighborhood Association has added this issue to the September Board Meeting agenda. Please attend the meeting this Tuesday, September 1st at 6:30 where we can discuss what we can do as a community to keep our neighborhood strong.
