Greetings neighbors,

CONGRATULATIONS on last Monday’s win in City Council!  Your resolve and dedication have found your efforts in this neighborhood collaboration to block additional package liquor sales in your neighborhood from this Goliath of retailers to be successful thus far.  Let’s hope that late Monday night was the end of it.  I suspect that it’s not.  If Josh Skarsgard is able to squeeze more billable hours out of Southwest Convenience Stores/Alon/7-Eleven, he will.   The liquor industry in NM wants the 2011 precedence from the CVS Pharmacy case beaten and City Legal may have to defend it.  If an appeal is filed in District Court, I hope that you will hear of it from the City Legal Department in rapid fashion.  HBNA, along with nearby N’hood Associations, should consider filing an amicus brief if this is appealed.

For now, you all should wish to give yourselves a deserved pat on the back for all the work you’ve done.  Celebrate with a party before the holidays eat up all of your time,  I’d suggest at Vibrance which you might remember is the restaurant that requested a beer and wine license in the HBNA n’hood.

Nancy and I are so very proud and grateful for all your efforts.

Yours in Community
