Hello Neighbors,

Just a reminder that the appeals hearing for the apartment complex at Aliso and Copper is this coming Monday, January 22, at 9am.  Please show your support and be there!

The Land Use Hearing Officer will hear the appeal on this structure and make a decision within 5 days.  This decision will go to City Council for a final vote, which usually supports the Hearing Officer's decision.

The location of the hearing is:  Council Committee Room, 9th Floor, Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center, One Civic Plaza NW.

Also - we need donations for the attorney costs involved with the appeals!  Please donate today.  Any amount is appreciated.  If you want to see your neighborhood association pursue these zoning issues, please contribute!

Here is our Go Fund Me page:   https://www.gofundme.com/nob-hill-legal-defense-fund.

Regarding who to contact to voice your concerns, I found out after the last email that we have a new Planning Director to replace Susan Lubar.  His name is David S. Campbell, and his email is dscampbell@cabq.gov.  Please add him to the list of people to email in opposition to development that does not fit the Nob Hill zoning codes.

Lastly, there was a comment that the appeals were not filed in time.  That is incorrect - in fact, the neighborhood was not even notified of the latest decision until 2 weeks after it was made by the city, despite phone calls and emails from neighborhood folks seeking answers.  Both appeals are moving forward.  The storage unit building appeal hearing will be next week on Monday January 29th, same time and place.

I can't speak more about the appeal as the hearing is this Monday, but please show up and you can find out exactly what has been going on.  It's pretty shocking!

This is an important time to participate, contribute, and support the neighborhood!

Thank you,
Tandi Hufnagel

It appears both appeals were filed late.  Deadline passed almost a month prior to filing .

Subject: [Neighbors] League of Women Voters candidate forum training

The League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico, a non-partisan political membership organization, encourages informed and active participation in government and focuses on voter education.  I hope you are familiar with our Voters’ Guides that we publish before both state and local general elections.

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the League will offer a free training session for persons who wish to help with our voter education efforts by serving as a moderator, timekeeper or card sorter at non-partisan candidate forums for upcoming municipal, state and national elections.  It is the League’s high priority to make sure that voters are well informed when they go to the polls to vote.  Please help us help the voters!

Details of the League’s training session:

     Saturday, January 27, 2018

     10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cherry Hills Library, 6901 Barstow NE, Albuquerque

There is no cost to attend this training.  If you would like to attend, please call the LWVCNM Moderator Coordinator, Mary Wilson, at (505) 975-0685 or send an email to T3Wilson@aol.com.

Call or email Mary Wilson if you want more information about what is involved with being a moderator or timekeeper.  Come and find out what it is all about – there is no obligation to moderate or keep time just by attending the training.

AND if you hear of any group that is planning to sponsor an candidate forum and may need the League’s help moderating or timekeeping, please have them contact Mary Wilson.

Thank you.
