Listening Session for Permanent Police Chief Invites Public Feedback This Saturday

The Albuquerque Police Department (APD), working with APD Forward, will jointly host a community Listening Session on Saturday, May 19 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The Session encourages all residents to provide input to city leadership about the search for a permanent Police Chief, and all City residents are invited to attend. You can also provide input by attending any of the May Community Policing Council meetings (this week’s listed below), or submit your comments online at: https://www.cabq.gov/mayor/community-engagement/national-police-chief-search

 

Public Meeting on Westgate Community Center Project on Tuesday

A public meeting on the progress of the Westgate Community Center project is scheduled this Tuesday, May 15, 6:00 p.m., Westgate Community Center, 1400 Snow Vista SW. Weekly Watering and Water Waste This Summer

In this time of extreme drought, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) reminds you that sprinkler irrigation isn’t allowed between 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Maximize your water use by only watering in early mornings or in the evening. If you see any water waste, call 505-842-9287. You can also report waste water online, at:

http://www.abcwua.org/Report_Water_Waste.aspx. It’s the responsible way to weather the drought.

 

May Community Policing Council (CPC) Meetings Encouraging Input for Permanent Police Chief

If you haven’t yet attended a CPC meeting, this is your opportunity to be part of policy for the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) and also offer feedback to city leaders about the search for a permanent APD Chief. This week’s meetings take place:

·        Foothills CPC, Monday, May 14 at 6:00 p.m., Holiday Park Community Center, 11710 Comanche NE

·        Northwest CPC, Wednesday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m., Don Newton Taylor Ranch Community Center, 4900 Kachina NW

3rd Thursday of Every Month is Free Evening Admission at the Albuquerque Museum!

Bike to Work Day Encourages Leaving Your Car Home

Did you know Friday, May 18 is Bike to Work Day here in Albuquerque? This is a great opportunity to leave your car at home, save on gas, get some extra exercise, and help the environment! Albuquerque Police Department (APD) “Camp Fearless” Summer Program Accepting Online Applications

Camp Fearless, APD’s summer camp program, is now accepting applications for two summer camps. Each camp will focus on team building, self-responsibility, and education. Transit Bus Line Changes Effective This Month

ABQ RIDE has announced changes to several routes citywide, streamlining existing service and eliminating low-use service. The routes affected are the D-Ride (Route 40) which has been eliminated, and will add Free Fare Zone Bus Stops in the downtown area along several existing routes. Sunday bus service on Route #50-Airport/Downtown to the Sunport is also now available! First Responder Day Honors Those Who Serve and Protect

You are invited to attend the 2018 Military and First Responders Day this Saturday, May 19, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at Cottonwood Mall, 10000 Coors Bypass NW. This free, family-friendly event honors uniformed service members, law enforcement, fire personnel, and other first-responder personnel.
