Greetings, iris fans!

You are invited to an iris rhizome swap in my backyard next Friday evening (July 13th). If you grow iris, come along and bring some of your rhizomes to trade with your neighbors. If your beds are overcrowded, bring a lot! If not, bring a few! If you don't grow iris but want to start, come and take home some of the leftovers.

Iris may be divided any time after they bloom in the spring until the early autumn. I chose this date to coincide with the iris rhizome sale at the Albuquerque Garden Center the next morning (Saturday, July 14th). https://www.facebook.com/events/1492292140876394/

Here's how to swap:

1. Divide your iris (or just dig a few up). If you don't know how, a great tutorial can be found here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/iris/dividing-transplanting-iris.htm

2. Put the rhizomes in a box labeled with the bloom color, or use a Sharpie to write the color directly on the leaves.

3. From 7:00-7:30, neighbors who brought rhizomes will swap with each other. From 7:30-8:00, neighbors who didn't bring rhizomes can take the leftovers home.

4. Other dividable plants and bulbs welcome. Kids and iris-loving friends welcome too!

When: Friday, July 13th. 7:00-8:00pm
Where: 1204 Richmond Dr SE (not NE!) 87106. In the backyard.
