New Mexico Senior Olympics Kicks Off This Week!

Senior athletes will gather at Balloon Fiesta Park to kick-off the 40th Annual New Mexico Senior Olympics State Summer Games, which start Wednesday, July 18 through Sunday, July 22. Senior athletes who participate in these games will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2019 National Senior Games that will take place in Albuquerque next year. Heat Tips for the Summertime

·       Never, ever leave children or pets alone in hot vehicles. Heat can increase in a car by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. If you see a child or animal in a hot car, call 911 immediately.

·       Consider keeping your pets indoors where it’s cooler. If a pet must be outdoors, make sure they have plenty of shade and plenty of cool water.

·       Check on family members or neighbors who are older, to make sure they are keeping cool.

·       If you have to be outside, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.

·       Consider limiting exercise and/or yardwork to early morning, or in the cooler evening.

·       Don’t forget water conservation! Only water outdoors in the early morning or late evening, and make sure your sprinkler system doesn’t have leaks.

Real ID Legal Fair This Saturday
