Follow Up On Crime Reports With APD

Have you ever been the victim of a crime, reported it to the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), and then never heard anything on it again? Would you like to know if APD pursued your case and/or apprehended the perpetrator? Here are some tips for following up on a reported crime in Albuquerque.

·       ALWAYS report any criminal activity or incident to APD. You can file a report online at: www.cabq.gov/police/file-a-police-report-online

·       If you are reporting a crime by telephone, ask to meet with an officer.

·       If you are reporting a property crime and don’t know any offender information, call the Telephone Reporting Unit at 768-2030.

·       If you’re reporting a crime and you DO know the perpetrator, call 242-COPS (242-2677)

·       Make a note of the case number once you have reported the crime and keep it handy for any future reference.

·       After three weeks from the date of your filing the report, contact any police substation with the case number and you will get a confirmation of who the case is assigned.

·       If the case has not been assigned, ask to speak to the Impact Supervisor to ensure they have received the report. Once you have the name of the detective assigned to the case, you can speak directly to the detective and monitor the outcome.
