Veteran’s Day Closures for the City of Albuquerque

In observance of Veteran’s Day on Monday, Nov. 12, some City services and offices will be closed. Services that will be on available include: bus service and Sun Van paratransit van service, trash and recycle pickup, 311, and many others. Town Hall on APD Transformation Invites Public to Attend

You are cordially invited to attend a Town Hall on Albuquerque Police Department’s (APD) on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., at the Albuquerque Convention Center, East Complex, Brazos Room 115. The Town Hall will be hosted by city officials, the Independent Monitor and the Department of Justice (DOJ) so you don’t want to miss it! Daylight Savings A Good Time to Check Smoke Alarm Batteries AND Check for Open Vehicle Recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reminds everyone that, in addition to checking the batteries on your smoke alarm with Daylight Savings, it’s also a great time to check on any open vehicle recalls that might affect your car or truck. Many people don’t receive recall information, or choose to ignore it, but checking for vehicle recalls is an essential safety action for you and your family. Energy and Water Conservation Tips for Your Home

With winter weather upon us, it’s a good time to take a look around your home and see how you can save money and conserve resources. Here are some ideas:

·       Seal up gaps around windows and doors with weather stripping and caulking.

·       Switch over to LED light bulbs, which may cost a bit more up front but last much longer and save money on electricity.

·       Adjust your thermostat and if possible, invest in a smart thermostat that can be programmed to automatically adjust.

·       If possible, replace single-pane windows with double-pane units and low E-glazing.

·       Have your heater inspected and filters cleaned out.

·       Remember that you don’t need to water as much in the fall and winter months and adjust your irrigation needs accordingly.

·       Consider replacing your toilet with a low-flow unit, which saves money and is much more efficient.

Return of the Sandhill Crane Celebration
