Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear about your experience.

Please report it to the police, it is not useless. Perhaps it is not likely that the offender will be caught for this crime. However, the police identify where to patrol and what areas of the city get more crime fighting attention by the crimes reported. They also analyze reported crimes to identify patterns and to anticipate where related crimes will happen - a large fraction of crimes are committed by a small group of people, and these people operate consistently. Even if your particular thief doesn't get traced and charged for going through your car, reporting it does help our neighborhood specifically and the APD in general.

Hi All:

Just giving you a heads up.  My  car was rifled through last night. Lomas and Solano area.  I don't lock it because it is a convertible and I don't want the top sliced. Parked in my driveway away from the street with a motion activated security light.   I don't keep anything of value in the car. Items missing include a LED flashlight, some tools and a portable disc player.  All of which can be replaced for about $40.00.  The big PITA was the crooks left a door ajar and killed the battery.  Is it unreasonable to expect  a higher quality of crooks who at least have the decency to close doors.  Not reported to the police.  Useless.
