Block Captain Conference Promotes Neighborhood Safety

The Block Captain Annual Spring Conference takes place Saturday, April 20, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, at the Roger A. Hoisington Memorial Police Training Academy, 5412 2nd St. NW. This bi-annual event encourages block captains to meet with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) to discuss neighborhood safety, benefits of a neighborhood watch program, and other safety-related issues. Child Development Programs Encourage Early Enrollment

Did you know that the City’s Family and Community Services Department (FCS) offers 25 child development centers in neighborhoods around town? These programs usually fill up quickly, so FCS encourages parents to enroll their kids early. Early Head Start, Early NM Pre-K, NM Pre-K and pre-school programs can all be enrolled online at: www.cabq.gov/family/early-childhood-development

Free VIN Etching Event Hosted by APD

Have you had your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etched onto your car yet? It’s an excellent deterrent to car theft! The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is hosting the first VIN etching event of the year Saturday, April 20 and it’s FREE and open to all residents! Free Bus and Sun Van Rides on Earth Day!

Monday, April 22 is Earth Day, and ABQ RIDE is offering FREE bus and Sun Van rides all day! Commuter bus use reduces traffic congestion, air pollution and carbon emissions, plus it saves money and parking aggravation. ABQ RIDE marketing staff will also be riding city buses that day, asking riders to take a transit survey and giving away promotional t-shirts.
