Get the latest information about Zoning Conversions

 

Zoning Conversions

 

The City received over 1,300 forms from property owners taking advantage of the free zoning conversion process. Staff submitted eligible properties in two batches - Batch 1 in November 2018 and Batch 2 in May 2019. Each batch will be reviewed/decided in three steps, with hearings open to the public:

·     Step 1: Environmental Planning Commission (EPC) - Review and recommendation

·     Step 2: City Council’s Land Use, Planning, and Zoning Committee (LUPZ) - Review and recommendation

·     Step 3: City Council - Final decision

Batch 1

Batch 1 was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Environmental Planning Commission in January 2019 as step 1 of 3 in the review/decision process.

 

Batch 1 will be heard by the City Council's Land Use, Planning, and Zoning (LUPZ) Committee on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 5 p.m. in the Vincent E. Griego Chambers in the basement of City Hall as step 2 of 3. Parking will be validated.

Batch 2

Batch 2 will be reviewed by the Environmental Planning Commission on July 11, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. in the Vincent E. Griego Chambers in the basement of City Hall as step 1 of 3 in the review/decision process. Parking will be validated.

 

Batch 2 includes over 1,000 properties.

·     Over 700 private properties with zoning conversion recommendations

·     Over 400 private properties still pending zoning conversion recommendations

·     Approximately 100 City-owned properties, some with zoning recommendations and some pending

IDO Annual Update - Public Meetings

 

Thanks to everyone who came to one or many of the public review meetings for the annual IDO update. Summaries of questions and comments from each meeting will be posted on the project webpage.

Miss the meetings? Don't worry! There are 2 more open houses in June before staff submits a final list of proposed changes at the end of July, and the review/decision process itself will have at least 3 opportunities to attend hearings. You can also send comments now and throughout the review/decision process via email to abctoz@cabq.gov.

·     June 15, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Los Duranes Community Center, 2920 Leopoldo Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104

·     August 10, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m., West Mesa Community Center, 5500 Glenrio Rd NW 87105

 

Activities for youth 6+ will be available at the Community Centers.
