Ladera West Neighborhood Hosting Autumn Book Fair This Weekend!
Got extra books lying around you don't want or need? Donate them to the Ladera West Neighborhood for their upcoming Autumn Book Fair happening Thursday, October 3 through Saturday, October 5. Halloween Costume Drive to Benefit Kids in the Community 
The Community Recreation Division of Family and Community Services (FCS)  is collecting gently used costumes to be given to infants, children, and tweens. Donations can be taken to any City of Albuquerque Community Center through Friday, October 4. For more information, call (505) 848-1343.
Learn about the Science of Lightning with LANL
Lightning flashes nearly 4 million times across the earth on any given day, but this weather phenomenon is still misunderstood! Planning Department Hosting Free Community Workshops
The Planning Department is hosting eight Civic Skills workshops and six Community Planning (CPA) workshops starting this week through the end of October. Civic Skills describe the history and future of planning in Albuquerque, including zoning, economic development and metropolitan redevelopment. CPAs actively seek neighborhood input on how to effectively collect neighborhood feedback that best represents neighborhood and community needs. Meals will be served at each workshop and activities for kids 6+ are available. Community members are highly encouraged to attend! Kitten Fosters Needed!
Animal Welfare is seeking fosters for several sweet kittens in the shelter. Fostering is a great way to temporarily help an animal, and also saves pet lives! Contact Shelly Boeglin, Volunteer Coordinator, at: sboeglin@cabq.gov to apply as a foster.
