Planning Department Hosting Free Community Workshops
The Planning Department is hosting several Civic Skills and Community Planning (CPA) workshops throughout October. Here are this week's and we hope to see you there!

The Civic Skills workshop describes the history and future of planning in Albuquerque, including zoning, economic development and metropolitan redevelopment. Meals will be served at each workshop and activities for kids 6+ are available. Attorney General Hosting Seminar on Opioid Epidemic in Santa Fe
The Attorney General's Office is hosting a free day-long seminar on Wednesday, October 23 in Santa Fe. "The Opioid Epidemic: Addiction and Prevention, Enforcement and Hidden Consequences" will enhance participant's knowledge of opioid addiction and will share information and proposed ideas and solutions to the ongoing issue of opioid addiction in our state. Free Mental Health First Aid Certification Class This Friday
Join the Albuquerque Police Department's (APD) Crisis Intervention Team this Friday, October 11 for a day-long Mental Health First Aid Certification Class. Mental Health First Aid is a global curriculum that teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The class takes place from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Albuquerque Police Academy, 5312 2nd St. NW. Neighborhood Engagement Process (NEP) Update!
As we near the beginning of Fall, our community engagement team, through the Neighborhood Engagement Process (NEP), has reached out to nearly all neighborhood associations and homeowners associations multiple times, by phone and email. One goal of the engagement process was to create equity by accessing neighborhoods from everywhere in the City in order to provide input to the update of the Neighborhood Association Recognition Ordinance (NARO). Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Brings Color and Increased Traffic to Albuquerque
It’s October, and that means hot air balloons, and heavier traffic around Balloon Fiesta Park and surface streets. If you’re heading out to Balloon Fiesta Park, remember there is designated parking, and consider using park-and-ride to make the trip out there a little easier. Volunteers Needed for ABQ Reads Program
Interested in volunteering? The ABQ Reads Program is in need of volunteers for its tutoring program at Whittier Elementary School and other locations. Tutors are needed Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. A background check is required and all training will be provided.
