Sorry for the short notice. Think it's time to ski Raven's and Heaven's Hill.

Meeting time and location: January 26th, Saturday, Ski Santa Fe parking lot [see description below]. Will try to ski away from the parking lot about 9:15-9:20, so try to get there about 9:00 or earlier and have those skins attached.

Description: This Class 3+ [gonzo abusive?] climbing skin tour starts from the Windsor Trail trailhead, at the bottom [west side] of the Ski Santa Fe parking lot. We climb [skin] up Windsor Trail to the high point gate and then parallel the fence line to ~Peak 11,212. From there, we descent down to the Windsor [aka Raven's]. Those who aren't in the mood for a big day, you can lap this run again, by breaking a new skin track up or completing the circle on the Windsor and retracing the fence line. If you opt to lap Raven's, you would be breaking away from the group I'm going to lead and would be on your own.
Back to the full meal deal version of this tour, once we descent Raven's to the Windsor, we continue on the Windsor, pass Rio Nambe, and then climb [some might call it thrash] up Heaven's Hill. The entire tour is quite a long day. This is especially true if the top part of Heaven's is lapped a second time [it can be very good]. Know what you getting into. The skin out on the Windsor is longer than you want it to be. Having a pair of kicker skins, in addition to a set of full length skins [with good adhesive], really helps ease the pain of tracking out on the Windsor.

Requirements: Have [or pretend to have] a good attitude, know how to avoid skiing into [sometimes dense] trees, know how to ski steep and gladed powder and possibly character building snow [hope for powder, expect less]. Bring your avy gear - beacon, shovel and probe - and know how to use it. Bring your full length skins and kicker skins if you have any. Bring food and drink for a long day. And you always carry an extra bit of warm and puffy clothing you hope to not need, right? Know how to pace yourself for a long day. Know when you might need to turn around and cut your losses [aka being smart and flexible]. Ski with a buddy and always let someone in the group know if you decide to cut the day short and head back early.

I don't mean to scare away anyone, but this can be a Big Day!

PDF attachment: Map and profile. Exact tour route, TBD.

Afterwards: Probably visit the original Second Street Brewery for food and drink.

RSVP? No need to reply back to the list server, but please text me if you are coming [Five 05 238-812 Three]. I repeat, please don't reply back to the entire list server group.

Ciao,
