[NMCCSC] NM-4 in Jemez closed due much snow

Hello Skiers,

A short time ago, Louise Broadbent (Ski Club member living at La Cueva in the Jemez Mtns) emailed me that they had gotten 10 inches of snow over the past 24 hours.

She said that NM-4 from the large group of mailboxes to Los Alamos was closed due to snow. NM-4 from Jemez Springs to the east was snow packed and icy.

I checked the nmroads.com Web site, and the map shows the above closure.

Even if the road opens soon, parking places may not have been plowed, and we would have no place to park.


I am thinking about postponing the outing until Sat., March 15, to give the NMDOT time to work on the road and parking places.

Ten (10) Club members have emailed me that they plan to ski tomorrow.

If you have emailed me that you plan to go tomorrow, but you cannot go on Saturday, please email me so that I will know how many skiers cannot go Saturday.


This much snow along NM-4 is very unusual, and I think that this road is rarely closed.
