I had the chance to ski for a short bit early this a.m. in the Sandias.Switchback trail is in very good condition; good snow and mostly clear of debris or deadfall. One tree across the trail very near the lower end that is an obstacle. It could be removed with a pruning saw - maybe within 200 ft of the lower end. The trail tape across the lower end of switchback is still there although the power lines have been repaired. The tape should be left; there is now about a 6' vertical drop from the trail to the service road. That would be a very rude end to a lovely descent. There is also a tree or some brush down at the very bottom end of Switchback that also would keep you from skiing into thin air. All other trees/debris on Switchback could be skied over - though I didn't get to ski the last long section that connects to the upper road.
Survey trail is a different story. I turned around at the power lines due to all the deadfall encountered. I might have been encouraged to keep going a bit further if I had seen how good most of Switchback was before I tried Survey.
