[NMCCSC] Report of Coyote Call outing, Mon., Dec. 21

I was at Enchanted Forest on Dec. 25 and found the “inner area” trails out
to Sherwood Forest in pretty good shape with track and skate lanes mostly
free of rocks and stumps just short of the warming hut. The trails coming
up to that point got a little sketchy (patchy/thin/icy), and the upper
trails were taped off with caution tape (rightfully so). Their report says "The
“outer area” including Little John, Long John, and Northwest Passage is
still thin and has many stumps and bare patches. Use extreme caution when
skiing the outer area." They need more snow, but are doing well with what
they have, where they can.
If you're in the Taos area, I would recommend skiing at Amole Canyon
instead (15 miles south on NM 518). Yesterday was pretty darn fantastic.
More or less groomed by regular ski traffic, good coverage and quality
snow, and the snowshoers were respectful of ski tracks. Trail map attached.

FYI: We also attempted some trails near Valle Escondito golf course and
Forest Road 5 off of NM 64 and found thin/patchy/icy conditions where snow
is exposed, but fairly decent in the trees--kind of hard to piece together
a big tour.
Pray for snow soon for conditions to improve all around! Cheers!
