For those of you interested in a FREE Telemark lesson at the Wolf Creek Ski Area on Feb 22, I need a head count and commitment. If you are interested after reading thru this message, either reply back to me directly [no need to reply to the entire group] or text/call me at [505] 238-812 three.

Some specifics:

  1. Please try to show up in plastic boots and relatively wide metal-edged skis will facilitate faster learning. Try to beg, borrow, rent if you don't have a kit like this. My apologies for how limited rental resources are. Yes, tele has become a niche sport.
  2. Will try to target the beginner/intermediate skilled in the morning, from 10-noon. intermediate and up 1-3 pm. I really try to challenge each person individually, no matter what your skill level.
  3. You will be a lot more comfortable if you can load/unload from a chairlift and have previous experience skiing at a ski area.
  4. Although the lessons are free, you will still need to purchase lift ticket. I would suggest a full day ticket.
  5. Come with an open mind and a true willingness to try something new. Learning to tele is a true continuum, which seemingly never seems to end. If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing, right?

Once again, please respond back to the e-mail [no need to reply to all] or text/call my cell phone [505] 238-812 three. I'm also more than happy to chat if you're on the fence or need/want additional information.

Let it snow,

Barry Ritchey*
aka Ritchey, TeleRanger

*About me - I first started to tele in '81, the year we moved to Albuquerque. Young and dumb, I taught myself to tele by he grace of other pinheads much more skilled than I, who were nice enough to allow me to just barely keep up. Somehow I became fairly proficient by cartwheeling down black diamond ski run. I became a PSIA certified tele instructor about '90. For over 25 years, I've taught telemark to kids, adults and even taught adaptive bi-ski on my tele gear.
