> After looking through Sam Beard’s book for an easy Jemez trail with low chance of snowmobiles, Tomas Herndon and I selected Redondo Loop today, an easy 2.5 miles Class I.
> Quick access right off Hwy 4 couple miles west of La Cueva. Parked in the San Diego Overlook lot, no other cars. After the first 500 ft, trail was completely untracked except for animals. Snow ranged from wet and heavy to 2-ft deep powder. Maxi-glide a must. Couple bare spots where sun hits all day.
> Tomas and I took turns breaking trail. What a great workout and great to be the second in line. Took a Cl III fall on a Cl I slope, and my homemade Covid mask went missing after that. If you find a peppermint candy-themed mask I’ll take it back, it’s washable.

> Had a great time and the trail is there now for beginners if the Saturday am Coyote Call outing is full.
