Greetings skiers,

It’s been great to read about everyone’s outings! On Wednesday, Carol Miller and I met up at Enchanted Forest for a delightful day on the trails there. The area received about 8 inches of fresh snow in the most recent storm so conditions were really pretty fabulous. The majority of the trails were corduroy-groomed and we did not encounter any icy sections or issues. We both felt like we had a lot of control on the descents. We skied about 6 miles. Afterward I skied up to Latir Yurt with my backpack and had to get a fire going so that I could get the yurt warmed up.

Next day was a cold, clear morning, and the clouds over Wheeler peak with the pinkish hue of morning was gorgeous. I took the long way from the yurt back to the parking area with my BC Classics and backpack. After that I donned my skate skis and hit the trails again. I’d say the conditions on my second day were not as good as when Carol and I were out. It was warmer and the snow was softer and a bit more sticky. On both days I had to use Maxi Glide. It was great to be able to ski two days at Enchanted Forest even though I missed the fresh snow at home. Hopefully we will get more on our home mountain! I’m headed up there tomorrow even though conditions will likely not be ideal.

Cheers,
Amy
