[NMCCSC] Crest Road and outing today 2/2

Hi all,

As expected the Crest road is completely closed.  I was hoping to get to Cienega and ski some of Armijo, but I was turned around near Tinkertown.  Rightly so.  There was a driving fatality on that road today.  We’ve got about 6-9 inches at home here so I decided to try the trails behind East Mountain High School.  That way I wouldn’t be on the road driving too much.  It was a warm 13 degrees and I found the snow extremely dry, light and fluffy.  With no base, it was slow going due to a tad bit of fear from sinking nearly all the way to the ground.  However, I only scraped a tiny bit on descents so it was actually quite nice. It was so peaceful out there with the snow falling.  Even though it was just up the road it had a very “backcountry” feel.
