[NMCCSC] Today’s Crest outing

No one could meet up with me at the 10k parking lot for an outing and guess what?  You didn’t miss much.  I found the conditions hard-packed and icy in most of the lower and upper 10k meadows, but still packed powder in the shade.  It was slow going due to the unfavorable conditions and I opted not to do the Service Road so as to check out Switchbacks.  I did not go very far at all on Switchbacks because I found it post-holed and icy.  

There are a few areas where there is some more rock and root exposure in the lower groomers, but in general we still have really good coverage.  I’d say the upper 10k meadow loop could still be an excellent place to practice.  Conditions might have improved later in the day as the hard packed snow likely thawed and softened, but I only ended up skiing for less than an hour.  Unless winter decides to finally show up, I’m not certain if I’ll try again up there unless it is just to practice technique in the
 afternoon.
