Grrr. Crest Road is still closed. It was fantastic yesterday as I just parking my car near Tinkertown and skied up to do the mt bike trails at Cienega. Today though they have the road barricaded off much lower down and someone is there to turn people around. James said there was a lot of cars parked near the barricade and some people were getting irate.

I skied Oak Flats today. I arrived around 9am and skied until 11:30. Conditions were good during the earlier part of the day. There was not nearly as much coverage as I experienced at Cienega and Doc Long. I encountered several base-scratching rocks, but it really wasn’t too bad. By the time 10:30 hit, the snow had begun to change. It got heavier and slower and slightly sticky. I was no longer gliding very well but more like skiing through Elmer’s Glue. I wore my Alpina 102mm and wish I had worn my 52mm Atomics instead. Oh well, at least I got to ski! When my work gets an indoor space to use during bad weather these impromptu ski days will be over for me! Oh man It must be amazing to be able to ski down the steepest part of Kiwanis today!
