Hello Skiers,

We will be maintaining the East Fork East Loop in the Jemez Mountains on Sunday, November 12.

>From the Los Griegos parking lot we will hike about 100 feet to the east on NM-4 and then follow Burn Trail ¼ mile to a junction with a connector trail that goes ½ mile to a saddle on East Fork Ridge. We will ski 1 mile clockwise around the East Loop and back to the saddle. We follow the Ridge Trail ¾ mile west to the junction with Burn Trail and follow this trail back to the vehicles.

The hiking distance is approximately 3 miles, and the elevation change is 100 to 200 feet. We will be cutting trees that have fallen across the trail and pruning branches. We will have views of Redondo Peak to the north and the Los Griegos area to the south.

Meet on the west side of the Target store parking lot on the SE side of the intersection of Paseo del Norte and I-25 N at 8 am. Wear sturdy hiking boots with slip-resistant soles, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt. Bring a jacket for the cool temperatures, warm work gloves, a hard hat, eye and ear protection, snacks, lunch, and drinks. We will have one or two chain saws. We will be carrying a Pulaski, manual pruning saws, long handle loppers, and maybe a pole saw.

We will be carpooling. If you plan to come from Santa Fe, please let me know. We will meet you at 9:45 to 10 am at the trailhead.

Please email me if you have questions. Let me know if you need to borrow a hard hat.
