[NMCCSC] Oak Flats

Greetings club,
Sorry if this is spamming the group but our Facebook page is paused so hope it’s ok to post conditions.

The East Mountains finished out this most recent storm on top of the one that dumped Sunday night.  WOW!   I ventured out to Oak Flats today and began my ski around 1pm with temps at 28F.   I’s say there was an average of 9-14 inches depending on location and drifts.   I shoveled out a spot for my car and began my ski in this magnificent winter wonderland that I had all to myself.   The snow was heavy, but that made for good packing snow instead of a dry snow that lets you sink right down to the ground.   I brought my “rock skis” because I didn’t expect much.   I was incredibly surprised and happy with my experience.   It snowed the entire time I was out.  There was maybe only 1 other person who broke trail before me along Ponderosa, but the trail ended so I turned around and hooked up with Mahogany.   There wasn’t much glide but hey-oh, early November deep snow!!!  I turned around when I felt some rocks on the trail and was feeling fatigue from constant trail busting.   

Get to Oak Flats early for a good ski tomorrow!

Crest Rd still closed.   10-16 inches from the Sunday storm and probably at least that much up there from this most recent one
