Hello Skiers,
Four to 8 inches of snow are forecast for the Jemez Mountains Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
Michael Arndt and I are leading Class I and Class I+ tours in the Jemez Mountains on Sunday, January 25.
Depending on the snow depth, we will ski in either the Redondo Campground Area or in the Coyote Call Area (VCNP has changed the name to Rabbit Mountain Area.).
Across NM-4 from Valle Grande, the loop trail is now Rabbit Mountain Loop, and the long trail to the ridge top is Rabbit Ridge Trail.
If we ski in the Rabbit Mountain Area, Michael could lead a Class I+ tour on the loop trail, and I would lead a Class I tour to the west on an old road across meadows and in the forest.
Meet at 8 am on Sunday at the west side of the Target parking lot southeast of the intersection of Paseo del Norte and I-25N.
If you are coming from the Santa Fe area, plan to meet us at Redondo CG at about 9:45 and a little later at the Rabbit Mountain trailhead.
We will be in a large black Ram pickup. We will carpool to the Jemez area. We will have room for 3 skiers in Michael's pickup.
Wear warm clothes and bring cross country skis with bindings, boots, and poles.
Please email me if you plan to go with us. samgbeard at msn.com
