Hello Skiers,

On Saturday afternoon, January 12, Michael Arndt and I skied two Class I trails in the Redondo Campground area on the Jemez Ranger District. The two inches of new snow was over about 12 inches of settled snow, and the skiing conditions were excellent.

After skiing the 2.5-mile loop around Redondo Campground, we skied past the two craters on the spur trail and skied the loop south of the craters. I had not skied this loop in many years due to the poor snow conditions there recently. We found enough blue diamonds to define the trail and found that it followed a segment of Old Hwy-4 and a logging road. This loop is very easy, has one moderate descent and is located in a dense grove of pine trees so that the snow conditions were very good. At about 4:30 pm we decided to ski a short cut along the highway shoulder back to the vehicle parked across the highway from Redondo Campground.

A few photos of the trip are presented in the attached Word document.
