Hi everyone,
An update to this Sunday's hike, Nov 10th.

The tram and associated facilities are closed for maintenance. The restaurant will be closed and planning to re-open on Friday, 11/15.
Here is a link to check the weather on top of the Crest:  https://sandiapeak.com/get-here/
Remember, it is a lot more fun and helps to prevent injury if you are in shape to go skiing.

Hey Beginner XC skiers,

Let's go hiking in the Sandia Mountains at elevation and make sure we are in shape for XC skiing this winter. Now is a good time to check out some of the ski trails before they are covered in snow.

Hike: Sunday, Nov 11, 2019, 10am to 2pm
We will begin at the Ellis Trailhead parking lot at 10am. The plan is to hike the Rocky Point trail south (Class 1+ ski), check out the new Tram restaurant and return on the Gravel pit trail (Class 2 ski).  At the end we will do a small loop to check out the beginning of the Switchback trail (Class 1+ ski).

Total hike will be 2.5 to 3 miles with about 100 ft elevation change. Bring snacks or a lunch, water and dress in layers for the weather.

Rocky Point trail information:

Weather info:
Partly cloudy, low 25 F, high in the 50's F.

CARPOOL: Meet at Smith's Grocery store (Tramway & Central, SW corner) at 9:15am.
Look for Blue Explorer with back hatch up.
OR
MEET @ Ellis Trailhead: Hike begins at 10am. Remember to bring $3 fee to park or annual senior pass.

E-mail me if you have any questions.
