Subject: [NMCCSC] Report removed 4 trees from 10K S Trail, Mon., Dec. 23

Hello Skiers,

On Monday, December 23, Michael Arndt and I removed four down trees from 10K South Trail between the trailhead and the fork where 10KS goes to the right and Challenge Trail goes to the left. The diameters ranged from 4 inches to 10 inches. We were carrying my Stihl MS-261 chain saw with an 18-inch bar.

Photographs are shown in the attached Word document.

After lunch we skied Sam's and Kerry's Trails and found no trees across these trails. We returned to the trailhead through the Aspen grove where a couple of groomed trails are located.

The snow conditions were fair. The trails were somewhat packed, and we found some wind slab in the open areas.

The temperature was 32 F to 39 F all day. The highway was dry, and the NMDOT was pushing snow on the shoulders back with a large grader to make room for the next storm                                                                                                     .

The skiing will be much improved with the new snow today.

Sam
