Hello Skiers,
On Saturday, January 4, 2020, Mike and Frances Meier, Michael Arndt, Byron Garner, and Sam Beard skied the East Fork East Loop and the lower parts of the Elk Ridge Trail and Ladera Trail. The total length of the tour was about 3.5 miles, the
time on the trails was 4 hours, and the snow conditions were excellent.
In addition to skiing the East Loop where the powder snow was about 20 inches deep, the objective of the outing was to ski through the area being thinned (logged?) on the south side of NM-4 about a mile east of the Los Griegos trailhead
parking area.
A description of the route that we skied is given in the caption of the figure showing Mike's GPS track of the area north and south of NM-4.
The other Word documents present photos of the touring and snow conditions.
Snow conditions in the Jemez above about 8400 feet in elevation were excellent Saturday which means that skiing should be good on Los Griegos, the eastern part of the East Fork Ridge, Corral Canyon, and Coyote Call.
At the lower elevations, such as 8100 feet at Redondo CG and the western part of the East Fork Ridge, there is less snow and conditions are not as good.
Sam
