This morning (08:45am start time, temperature around 27F, sunny) Amy and James Mathis skied from the 10k parking lot up Survey to Ellis, and then out-n-back on Switchbacks. We ski on Rosi BC70. Switchback trail was excellent. On the skate-ski groomers we met Jeff (Sandia Nordic groomer... not grizzling, rather he was skiing), who told us that Switchback trail was nice in part due to the snowshoe race giving the trail a nice packing. We had already skied Switchbacks, and I honestly couldn't tell that any snowshoers had impacted the trail through the trees-- no lumps, no chunks, just nice packed snow. The skate groomers were nice and firm-- exactly as the Grizzlies Guys said they expected them to set up. I only had one bit of trouble, but that's me and my inexperience and lack of skill. I'm still learning to navigate the skate-groomed (CAUTION!) downhill/turn up near the top, and I took a tumble catching a snow speed bump. Seriously, track not bad; I'm just not that good.

In general a great xc breakfast ski in the Sandias.
