Hi all,
I parked at 10K lot and skied the upper meadows near 10K to the Ellis parking lot. From there I took Switchbacks to Survey Trail. I took that all the way to meet the North Crest Trail. It was 9:30 in the morning and 21 degrees when I left the car. The sky was blue bird perfect and the wind was negligible once I was in the trees. Conditions were some of the very best I have had all season! It was jaw-dropping gorgeous out there today with squeaky packed powder on most of the Trail and snow clinging to the branches of the evergreens. I lost the North Crest trail that I was planning on taking back. There were no tracks and I was confused as to where exactly the trail was in the deep snow. It was a ton of work trying to slog up the mountain there without kickers. After a short time of that I saw some ski tracks and decided to follow them. They had me descend and I ended back on the Survey Trail so decided to take that back to Switchbacks. At first I was disappointed but in the end I think it was a much more enjoyable day to be able to ski back up the mountain in well-defined tracks. I did about 8 miles today and it was incredible.
I am sad that I had to miss the meeting tonight but we have had a plumbing failure at our house tonight that needed our attention.
Cheers!
Amy
