I decided to try for a short ski session today.  I left my house in cloudy weather with a high of 22F.  It was a beautiful drive through fog and hoar frost clinging to the trees.  By the time I reached Sandia Ski base the fog had lifted revealing blue sky and warming temperatures.  I started at 10 and it was already 29F.  I have been off my skis for a week due to an ankle tendon issue, so I just skied the Service Road off of Ellis parking area a couple of time and I did Rocky Point Trail.  Sandia Nordic had just groomed this morning, so the Service Road was nice.  Warming/freezing conditions caused the snow to be hard packed in places with some ice. Rocky Point Trail was challenging as the descents were difficult to control and the ascents did not allow for much grip with the fish scales.  The Sandias are due for more snow on Saturday so that will hopefully improve things.

Cheers!
