[Volunteers_fosm] New FOSM Board Member

Hello FOSM Members:

As many of you likely know, there has been a vacant position on the FOSM Board of Directors. This vacancy occurred when former Board member Jim Lunn relocated to Texas and gave up his Board position. That position had one year left in its term.  In these instances, the FOSM Bylaws require that the Board appoint an individual to fill that vacancy until its term expires and the incumbent becomes eligible for re-election at the Annual Meeting of the Membership which is held each October. Also, in accordance with the Bylaws of our organization, the FOSM Nominating Committee produced a list of candidates for this appointment which was forwarded to the Board.

The FOSM Board of Directors met in a special session on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 for the purpose of making this appointment. After extensive discussion and consideration of the merits and qualifications of the candidates, the Board appointed Eric Russell to fill this vacancy. Eric is a long-time FOSM member with an extensive record of active participation in various organization projects, particularly in trail construction, an activity in which he has often served in a leadership capacity. He is certified by USFS in the use of crosscut saws and chainsaws and has been issued a permit to operate USFS vehicles.

The FOSM Board of Directors wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to the other candidates for their willingness to serve in a leadership capacity for our organization.
