TITLE: EVOLUTION OF CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IN THE SANDIA MOUNTAINS

ABSTRACT: Among the topics featured in this presentation, the audience will
learn highlights of the following:

The history of trail grooming in the Sandias, including an overview of the
equipment that has been used over the years up to present; How Sandia
Nordic got started and has grown; An overview of the trails that are
currently being groomed; An overview of planned improvements to the trails
(Sandia Trails Improvement Project component); Distinctions between cross
country skiing styles: back-country skiing vs. groomed trail classic and
skate skiing; Activities hosted by the Club; Community service provided by
the Club (plowing of Ellis lot during government shutdown, efforts to save
UNM Ski Team); Instruction available from the Club...

PRESENTERS: SCOTT DIETRICH; SAM BEARD; STEVE ROHOLT

NOTE This will be the last program for the 2019 season of FOSM
presentations.  The 2020 season will start Tuesday, April 6.
