[Volunteers_fosm] Cancellation Of FOSM Monthly Meetings For 2020

Hello Everyone:

We are all now quite familiar with the deluge of closure and cancellation announcements for numerous public and private events across the country. This has mostly been done due to restrictions imposed by  governments at many levels in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately this has not been without its effect on our organization also. In response to these restrictions, FOSM began to cancel our meetings on a monthly basis with the hopes that the situation might stabilize. It now appears more and more that this is a process that will take some time. At the end of April, the FOSM Board of Directors determined that it would be in the best interest of the health and safety of our members and other volunteers that all FOSM monthly meetings for 2020 be cancelled. The announcement of this cancellation would be withheld until mid-May and the governor's scheduled press conference just in case the situation improved and many of the restrictions relaxed. However, most of the restrictions remained with the probability that they would be in place for some time.

Therefore, it is with regret, that we feel it in the best interests of the health and safety of our members,  USFS volunteers and others who attend them, that all remaining FOSM monthly meetings for the remainder of 2020 be cancelled.

Although  our volunteer work will be done differently due to COVID-19 safety restrictions, I am certain that we will all welcome the opportunity to get back out on the mountain doing what we do.
