Hello Volunteers,
We will begin thinning the pinon/juniper forest again in the Cedro area south of the ranger station on Wed., March 17. This work is part of the Cedro CFRP (Collaborative Forest Restoration Project) on several hundred acres of the Cibola National Forest.
FOSM committed to thin 36 acres in three years. In the first year we thinned 12 acres in the northern and eastern parts of our 32-acre parcel. We also began working in the western part of this area and have already thinned several acres.
Meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station. We need both chain sawyers and swampers.
Bring a face mask, lunch, snacks, drinks, hard hat, gloves, and eye and ear protection. Sawyers and swampers working near the chain saws must wear chaps. Sawyers are required to wear 8-inch high boots.
We drive to the work site with one person in each vehicle.
To help with planning, please let me know if you plan to work.
I am looking forward to working with all of you again.
