Hi Stan,
Thank you for letting us know about this, how unfortunate! Yes, I imagine vandals, possibly trying to get a Christmas tree.

Hi FOSM,
I've never posted an email to FOSM before, and am unsure of the correct procedure, but I wanted to report an observation I made yesterday. I'm cc'ing Julie and Jenna with the NF, for their information.
I was exploring geology around Juan Tabo area yesterday, and found a healthy pinyon pine that had been very recently butchered by someone(s) who had cut off major trunks, essentially decapitating it. The pieces cut off were lying on the ground, and were full of green needles (hence a recent act). The attached map shows the location is at the end of the short parking area at the horse-shoe bend of the 1-way loop drive (magenta arrow). The 2nd picture attached shows the tree.
My immediate thought was vandals did this. I can't imagine FOSM or the NF would do this(?).
