Meet at the Guard Station at 8:00 am as usual. We will not need to take
chainsaws. I alerted Jerry Carroll to meet us at 9 Mile around 8:30-8:45.

FOSM Members/Volunteers
Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, June 14, Lou Romero will lead a high priority FOSM project to
move several cords of bucked wood from the new “footprint” of the new Nine
Mile PA to the adjacent old highway.
On Saturday, Lou learned from Taylon Chesser, Cibola NF Engineer, that
approximately
60, mostly live aspen and white fir trees, have been removed from the new
"footprint" for the reconstructed picnic area. Hotshot crews from Globe,
Arizona, have bucked 12 to 18-inch rounds and moved them into piles along
the edge of the pavement.
The contractor will be working within the "footprint" Wednesday, and it is
a high priority to remove the piles of bucked rounds from along the
pavement on the East, South and West sides of the "footprint". We estimate
3 to 4 dump trailer loads. We decided not to make multiple trips to the
woodlot Wednesday. Instead, we will move the rounds from the "footprint"
to the old highway behind the new gate near the entrance for processing at
a later date.
We decided that we will only use the splitter for the largest, heaviest
green rounds. We will need 3 people helping Tami Meade with the splitting
operation. The rest of our FOSM crew will be loading the trailer. Jory
Meade will then haul and dump the loads about one hundred yards below the
new gate.
There should be very little need for chainsaw work, because the Hotshots
have bucked and moved the wood to the pavement. Wednesday, we will bring
only the last load off the mountain to the woodlot.
Hopefully, we will have 8 to 12 FOSM volunteers.
