Greetings FOSM Volunteers!

Hopefully you all received my email on Thursday that was so kindly forwarded by Bob Lowder. In case you didn't get it, here was my message:

To those of you I haven't met yet, hello! I'm Jen Medina-Gray, the new Trails Foreman for the Sandia Ranger District.

I know some of you have been getting wind of the trail conditions over at Tree Spring. There was a tree thinning project in the area and the Challenge trail needs a little help. The contractor has completed their work and a few of us Forest Service staff went over there to determine any hand work that can be done for the trail to remain as safe and sustainable as the day you all completed your work the first time. I would like to invite any of you who are interested to spend a day helping us rehab the trail.

A workday will be held next Tuesday 11/21. We will meet at the Tree Spring trailhead at 8:30am and work until 2:30pm. Anyone is welcome to join us, even if you are only able to for part of the day.

If you will be joining us the following is required: hard hat, sturdy boots, long pants, long sleeve shirt, work gloves, and eye protection.

Tasks will consist of the following:

-reestablishing tread
-knocking down berm where debris has piled up
-putting large debris in open areas to prevent people from cutting the trail
-getting rid of machine track marks
-removing loose rocks from tread
...and maybe more!

Please let me know by Monday afternoon if you plan to join in on the fun!
