Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, October 18, FOSM volunteers will continue processing the donation firewood that we started bucking earlier on the hillside above the first Cienega picnic site on the right side of the road.
Wednesday's project will be very similar to the project on Wednesday, Oct. 11. We will park at the lowest restroom in Cienega PA and across the road from this restroom. We will roll the splitter up the paved path to where the bucked rounds will be gathered. Most of the work will involve more bucking; moving bucked rounds to the splitter; splitting rounds and carting the split wood in wheelbarrows down to Joe Meade’s trailer.
We will also be processing wood in Doc Long PA, because the remaining wood in Cienega PA will not fill the trailer.
We will need the 3 new large FS wheelbarrows; 4 orange cones; 1 or 2 chain sawyers; 1 cant hook; fuel and other chainsaw tools. Hopefully, we will have 8-10 volunteers. (Jerry Carroll should not need to come to the Guard Station.) Perhaps Jamey, if available, can haul the wheelbarrows, etc. Dan will pull the trailer with the splitter. Lou will drive Joe's truck/trailer. Lou will alert the Hopkins woodlot owner.
Meet at 8:30 am at the FOSM Guard Station. Wear sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles, long pants, and a long-sleeve shirt. Bring work gloves, hard hat, eye and ear protection, lunch, snacks, drinks, and maybe a jacket for cool morning temperatures.
Note the later meeting time of 8:30 am.
