[Volunteers_fosm] FOSM Appreciated

It’s always nice to be appreciated, and FOSM has received praise twice this month.

Lou Romero, co-leader with Sam Beard of our donation-wood project, received the following message from Scott Peterson, Director of Wood Ministry of Mountain Christian Church, on October 12: 

Thanks Lou, it was a blessing to have all the wood you (FOSM) have brought down from the Crest this year! We had 4-5 people to provide firewood for, and we got everyone taken care of in 2 Saturdays. Previously, that took a lot more time and effort, so I really appreciate all the wood you brought to us this year. I hope all went well on Wednesday.

Sandia Ranger District hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Event yesterday. FOSM was recognized repeatedly by Forest Service officials Crystal Powell, Julie Padilla, Russell Berman, and Sandra Coambs. Several FOSM members including Sam Beard, Joelle Hertel, Jamey Browning, Lou Romero, and Mike Madden were recognized individually. Jenny Blackmore received special recognition for her leadership of the Challenge Trail extension project.
