Hello Everyone,

Apparently I forgot to announce the project for tomorrow, Wed., Sept. 20.

We will be installing short posts in the two modern picnic shelters as we did last week at Balsam Glade PA. These 22-inch posts go under each end of the horizontal beams between the large posts.

The posts have been cut to a length of about 24 inches. They are pressure-treated 6-inch diameter posts. I applied wood preservative to the end that will go down next to the concrete but lag screws in the lower end will mean that the end is not in contact with the concrete so that less water is wicked up into the wood. The posts are secured to the beam and large columns by two ¼-inch diameter 10-inch long timber screws. The posts have already been painted brown.

Meet at 8 am at the FOSM Guard Station. Bring work gloves, eye and ear protection, lunch, snacks, and drinks.

Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and boots with slip-resistant soles.

Bring carpentry tools and power screw drivers.
