Hey Everyone!
The SRD trails people have met and I received an email from Jen. They
think it will be best to put a pause on any tread work until the snow
melts and the trails dry up a bit. The proposed date for return to work
would be March 21st. This will allow the trails team time to get their
footing and begin to produce a longer scope of work for the Thursday crew.
It is possible there will be a bit more corridor work to do on Lower Pine
but the SRD trails team wants to look over the reroutes. They will let us
know if there is work to do there or if there is brushing that needs to be
done. Potential brush work trails are the northern half of Piedra Lisa
(possibly doing a loop with Del Agua trail), and Tramway trail from the
trailhead to La Cueva trail junction. Basically we are on hold and not
working until 03/21/24 unless I hear otherwise.
Jen also suggested we talk about setting up someone or someones to be
project leader on the days we don't have a SRD person with us. I am good
with the email and report duties but I feel I haven't been doing trail work
long enough to have the knowledge to lead on the trail at this point.
We won't need someone every week and if we had a couple of people willing
to take on this chore we could rotate the duty. I think we really just need
someone to walk the line a couple of times while we work and help with
questions and supply an extra critical eye to the work in progress. If you
would be willing to help with this let me know. I know everyone likes to
work when we go out but again we can work it so the project leader isn't
left out of the work. I assume there would be some consulting with the SRD
folks involved. Those of you who have been doing this longer than I have
can probably give more input on all this.
Think about all this and if you have any questions or suggestions or ideas
let me know.
Laura
