The Sandia Cave Improvements Project will address public safety, repeated
vandalism to the site, and current visitation demands that are increasingly
impacting the safety, environment, and the visitor experience. The Forest
Service is proposing a series of upgrades to the current infrastructure
that have been designed to help the Sandia Ranger District manage the site
at a level commensurate with its status as a National Historic Landmark,
Traditional Cultural Property, and Significant Cave.
