Hello Volunteers,

On Wednesday, March 19, FOSM volunteers will fell hazard trees in Cienega PA.

Canyon Young, SRD Trails and Wilderness Program Manager, has marked hazard trees in this PA. He attached a tree map, but there are only 4 hazard trees. They are at the following locations:

  1.
One at Tee Intersection at PA entrance.
  2.
Two are at the group area.
  3.
One is at the upper parking lot.

I will bring a copy of the hazard tree map on Wednesday. We will limbing the felled trees and maybe bucking them.

Bring or wear usual PPE: long pants and long sleeve shirt, work gloves, ear and eye protection, hiking boots, warm jacket, hard hat, and chain saw chaps. We will be using chain saws; therefore, be certain to bring ear protection.

Bring snacks, drinks, and lunch.

If we have time, we may buck some of the trees felled along the road to the PA and along Wagon Trail last fall.

Meet at 9 am at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station.

Please email me if you have questions.

Sam Beard, Projects Chair
Friends of the Sandia Mountains
