Hello Volunteers,
The original plan was to replace broken fence posts in Cienega PA on Wed., May 14, but a USFS Fire Crew bucked all the logs on the ground in Balsam Glade PA and placed them in small stacks.
Lou Romero and I discussed the situation in which the SRD requested that we replace the broken fence posts in Cienega PA before it is opened on May 23. The other concern is that the stacked wood in Balsam Glade will be stolen before we can haul it to the church wood lot.
Lou and I decided on the following plan:
1.
On Wed., May 14, volunteers will meet at 8 am at the FOSM Guard Station and load the three piles of wood there on Mike Oliver's trailer. (He is available to haul on that Wed.)
1.
Volunteers and Mike Oliver will go to the lower part of Balsam Glade PA with wheelbarrows and load as much wood as possible on Mike's trailer. The rounds are mostly less that 12 inches in diameter and should not be too heavy to handle without splitting them.
1.
If we have a large number of volunteers working on Wed., a few volunteers could go with Sam to begin replacing broken posts in Cienega PA after Mike's trailer is loaded at the hazmat building. We will need a pickup to haul several posts and poles (rails) from Don Carnicom's house to Cienega PA.
1.
If the piles of wood in Balsam Glade are loaded on the trailer early enough (maybe by lunch time), the Balsam Glade volunteers could go to Cienega PA and help replace broken posts. Lou has a USFS key and could open the bottom gate on Cienega Road.
1.
We could finish replacing broken Cienega fence posts on May 21 and complete that project before the opening on May 23.
No rain is forecast for the next week.
Bring or wear the usual PPE — long pants, long sleeved shirt, hiking boots with slip-resistant soles, hard hat, lunch, snacks, drinks, work gloves, eye and ear protection for use around chain saws.
