Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, May 28, the two major volunteer tasks will be loading split wood on Mile Oliver's trailer and hauling the old Kiwanis Meadow fence bucks to the transfer station and hauling poles to the Hazmat building. The fence wood was not pressure-treated and can be used as firewood.

  1.
Loading Split Wood on Mike's Trailer — Meet at the FOSM Guard Station at 8 am. Sign in and go to Capulin Snow Play area to meet Mike there at 8:45 to load the split wood.

  1.
Hauling Old Kiwanis Meadow Fence Bucks to Transfer Station — We will meet Manny Chavez with the SRD flatbed trailer at about 9:15. After loading the split wood, we will go to the Crest area and down the Kiwanis Cabin Road to the meadow. The poles have been cut off most of the bucks. We will load bucks on the SRD trailer for Manny to take to the transfer station. We will take FOSM tie downs to use on the trailer.

  1.
Hauling Old Poles to Hazmat Building — It would be helpful if some high clearance volunteers' pickups could be used to haul poles from Kiwanis Meadow to the hazmat building to use as donation wood. The road to the meadow is rough, and high clearance pickups are needed to avoid hitting some rocks. We should have enough tie downs to use on these pickups.

It would also be helpful if some volunteers with USFS driver's licenses would drive USFS pickups to help haul poles. If you have a license and are willing to drive a USFS truck, please let me know ASAP so that on Tuesday, I can contact Heather Johnston about using a couple of USFS pickups.

The pressure-treated wood for the new buck and rail will be delivered to the SRD Boneyard later this week.

Constructing the new buck and rail fence with the Talking Talons crew and FOSM volunteers is one of our major projects this year. Joelle and I hope that volunteers will support this project so that we can complete it on schedule.

Meet at 8 am at the FOSM Guard Station. Wear boots with slip-resistant soles, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Bring a hard hat, work gloves, snacks, lunch, and eye and ear protection. We may be using two battery-powered chain saws to cut some bucks and/or poles.
