Hello, FOSM Members and Friends--

It's time to mark your calendars for our next General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, July 7th at 6PM in the SRD conference room. Dr. Deirdre Kann, retired National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) meteorologist, former UNM adjunct professor and frequent speaker at Oasis Albuquerque, will give us a presentation all about clouds. Are you in need of a guide to cloud spotting? Do you often wonder why the clouds in the sky look different from hour to hour, day to day and month to month?  How and why clouds develop, the ingredients responsible for their distinguishing characteristics, and what they may tell us about the weather.

Deirdre Kann, a native of northern Illinois, grew up enjoying the great outdoors, science and nature. She earned a BS in mathematics from Towson University and a PhD in atmospheric sciences from Purdue University. She worked for various agencies within the NOAA for 30 years, including 23 years as the Science & Operations Officer at the Albuquerque National Weather Service. Now retired, Dee enjoys public speaking and keeping her eyes on the sky.
